Community Development Halton’s Social Planning work happens through:

  • Data analysis, research, and mapping to share capture issues of social justice, faced by the community.

​

  • Seeking and documenting stories about residents, citizen groups and local nonprofit organizations and the impact that they are making in Halton.

​

  • Providing social research as a source of evidence for Halton’s community leaders and nonprofits to plan and seek support for the work that they do to support well-being in our community.

​

  • Convening community, sharing the research and a space for us to individually and collectively identify how to use the information.

​

  • Creating spaces that are designed to spark collaboration and action in Halton.

​

  • Support community development, civic engagement and advocacy efforts for an increased quality of life in Halton.

2 /Our Kids Network

The Our Kids Network (OKN) Data Portal is an interactive resource containing community and neighborhood level information, Census data, demographics, and OKN research data on the Halton 7, which are the evidence-based conditions of wellbeing needed for children, youth, and families to thrive. Users can download data, create maps, charts, and graphs, and add their program data to create maps overlayed with OKN data.
3 / Canadian Knowledge Hub for Giving and Volunteering

The Knowledge Hub includes data about giving and volunteering in Canada using a variety of sources, including Statistics Canada’s General Survey on Giving, Volunteering and Participation as well as research reports and blogs all focused on data for the volunteer sector in Canada.
