Belonging starts with small steps

It is that feeling of being accepted without being judged

For me, belonging means stability, security and safety. It is when I feel that I am accepted in a group or community and able to express my thoughts and feelings without being judged.

It takes time for that to happen. To have more belonging, I’d like to see people give more time for trust to build.

It starts with small steps through gatherings, events, small talk or coffee chats. I’d like to see the government at all levels support groups and communities financially or with subsidized venues or events to help build belonging.

If belonging were a colour, it would be green, to represent life, and the growing of relationships.
