About the event

As we form our understanding of what it means to create space as community developers and organizers, the notion of peer support has become more relevant in community practices and in social research literature, acting as a bridge between service providers and service users.

Peers, or people with lived experience and expertise with a particular subject matter, play an important role in providing empathy, understanding, and acceptance to the people they support. This cultural capital is critical to our collective understanding of challenges such as the housing crisis, domestic violence, and inequality, providing equitable input to service users and service providers alike.

Join us on February 26 as we hear from our panel of peer researchers and advocates who will speak from direct lived experience and explore the meaningful role of peers in providing support and co-creating solutions to the challenges facing our communities. Our event will be held virtually…
